The model of the Mars - Curiosity rover was built in real size. Visitors will get an idea of the complexity of getting such a large device to Mars successfully and in good working order.
More information:
- The Mars Science Laboratory is project of NASA to bring an autonomous exploration robot named Curiosity to Mars. Curiosity performed the most accurate landing ever on Mars on August 6, 2012. Curiosity will assess whether Mars was, or still is today, a viable environment. ability to create conditions for microorganisms to survive. In other words, the mission of robot mission will be to determine the habitability of this red planet.
- Curiosity is a small rover designed to explore Gale Crater on Mars as part of NASA's Mars Science Laboratory (MSL) mission. Curiosity was launched from Cape Canaveral on November 26, 2011, 15:02 UTC aboard the MSL spacecraft and landed on Aeolis Palus in Gale Crater on Mars on August 6, 2012, 05:17 UTC. The Bradbury Landing landing site is less than 2.4 kilometers (1.5 miles) from the center of the rover's touchdown target after a journey of 560 million kilometers (350 million miles). Curiosity's goals include an investigation of Martian climate and geology; assess whether selected areas within Gale Crater can provide environmental conditions favorable for microbial life, including investigation of the role of water; and studies on the planet's habitability to prepare for human exploration.
- In December 2012, Curiosity's two-year mission was extended indefinitely. On August 5, 2017, NASA celebrated the fifth anniversary of Curiosity's landing and related exploration achievements on Mars.
Curiosity's design will serve as the foundation for the currently planned Mars 2020 rover. As of June 9, 2018, Curiosity has been on Mars for 2077 solar days (2133 total days) since landing on the planet on August 6, 2012.
